Data field markers are used in a variety of different locations for specific purposes.
The way to place a marker is an enclosed field name within a surrounding pair of markers.
The way to set a data field marker is described here.
The fields that could be used relate to the system set of fields, application values, the project details and the records returned.Any field that cannot be found will not have the marker replaced by the value.
Data field markers are checked for at the following process and application parts.
- Output Template parts
All data field markers used and data records applied to the record template and the last record available for the footer. - Output paths
All non-record data field markers and the record specific (e.g. RowField~1) or last record data markers - Data source paths
All non-record data field markers
At certain points, the data markers that can be used is shown in a side window with a view of the identified markers in tabbed lists with preview examples.
To use this data field list,
- click on the point where the data field marker is wanting to be inserted,
- optionally click on the field marker delimiter you want to use,
- then click on the data field marker that you want to insert,
The marker will appear where you want it in the format you require. this can be edited or turned into an expression.
At processing, the markers will be replaced by the appropriate values and the resulting output used.
Any unidentified marker will not be altered. So if you see a marker that didn’t change, then the data field label was not found and you may need to use another data field label or a fixed value.
